Emerging Female Artist Competition
The ‘She’s the One’ Emerging Female Artist Competition is an annual cross-Canada talent search/contest for emerging female Canadian musicians! There is an incredible amount of undiscovered female musical talent in Canada—the She’s the One Emerging Female Artist Competition is a great way to prove it! With the help of our sponsor BOOM 99.7 FM, we are proud to support emerging Canadian female musicians.
She’s the One is open to solo female singers/songwriters or bands with a lead female member, who are Canadian residents.
RBC Bluesfest organizers gather submissions (during the month of March) from artists performing original music, and three finalists are selected from each of two categories:
1] Solo (i.e. Singer-songwriter)
2] Band (2 or more people).
These six finalists each have a 20-minute slot at the RBC Bluesfest (Saturday July 6th, 2013) to perform for a professional jury, with one winner chosen from each category. Winners receive a cash prize: Solo Category winner receives $2,000 and the Band Category winner receives $5,000!
Judging is based on overall performance, stage presence, originality, musicality, audience reaction, and the ‘It’ factor. Above all, the jury is looking for a moving live performance.
