Ticket & Wristband FAQ

Ticket and Wristband FAQ

FAQ – Event Passes

Why am I receiving a wristband instead of tickets?

Adult & Youth Festival Wristbands, Pick 3 Wristbands, and Pick 5 wristbands will not be issued as paper tickets. Instead, your transferrable RFID-enabled wristband will provide site access and also provide the option of social media integration with our festival initiatives.

Wristbands must be purchased by phone at 613-599-3267 or online through www.capitaltickets.ca.

I bought my passes in-person and was given tickets instead of a wristband. Why?

Day tickets and other passes will be issued as barcoded tickets at Compact Music and Capital Tickets outlets. Not all outlets have access to each ticket type, so please check ahead.

I bought a single-day pass and now would like to attend other dates. Can I upgrade to a Pick 3 or Pick 5 Wristband?

Purchases are not exchangeable, upgradeable, or refundable. Plan ahead and save big!

I’m going with my friend one night the festival. Can we both use the same wristband?

Not quite – tickets and wristbands are designed for just one person to use at a time. We cannot load multiple tickets for the same date on one wristband.

I bought a ticket/wristband off Kijiji; how do I know if it’s valid?

No. Purchase your passes directly from Capital Tickets or authorized outlets.

I bought a ticket/wristband for one date, but I want to exchange or refund it.

All tickets/wristbands are non-exchangeable and non-refundable.

Can you provide more information on the service charges and fees applied to my order?

See: http://www.capitaltickets.ca/en/default.asp?capitaltickets=16.

FAQ – Event Pass Delivery Options

I ordered my passes online, when will they be sent to me?

All tickets and wristbands purchased via phone/online channels will be mailed in advance of the festival to your address on file.

IMPORTANT: if you move before your tickets are delivered, let us know in advance! Please call Capital Tickets at 613-599-3267 to update your address.

What’s the difference between regular and couriered delivery?

Mail delivery occurs via Canada Post. Please allow 5-10 business days for your purchase to arrive. Couriered purchases are sent via Canada Post Xpresspost service. Please visit their website for detailed information.

I don’t have a Canadian mailing address, how do I get my tickets?

Capital Tickets can courier internationally, or you can choose to purchase at the festival box office when you arrive. We recommend doing this as early as possible to avoid waiting in line during the event!

FAQ – Wristbands

What‘s the difference between “transferrable” and “non-transferrable” wristbands?

Your pass may be transferrable to close friends and/or family members.

Youth  Festival Wristbands

These are not transferrable to other individuals and must be worn for the duration of the festival.

Adult Festival Wristbands, Pick 3 Wristbands, Pick 5 Wristbands

These are designed with a special clasp that you can take on and off throughout the festival. You can share this band with others if you are unable to attend a specific date.

NOTE: wristbands can only be used by one person at a time.

All wristbands will be verified at the gates to ensure clasps are securely fastened and free from tampering/damage.

Please note each wristband is linked to your RBC Bluesfest account information, and the original purchaser is responsible for unauthorized conduct/usage if they share their band with a trusted person.

Resale is still prohibited. Scalped wristbands will be deactivated and/or confiscated immediately.

So now that I have this wristband, what do I do with it?

Oh, the possibilities! First: read the instructions below CAREFULLY. This will explain how and when to apply the wristband, protect it from damage, and register in advance for lost/stolen protection and cool social media initiatives.

Youths:  Please visit our wristband registration page to activate lost/stolen protection BEFORE applying it onto your wrist, as you will be unable to read your Unique ID number once on your wrist.

Wristband Instructions:

*It is important that you read these instructions and follow them exactly. Failure to follow instructions may result in your not being admitted to the festival.*

*Slide band over your wrist.

*Hold onto the round closure at the end of the band, and with your opposing hand, slide the spring-mounted clasp toward your wrist to tighten the band

*DO NOT close the band too tightly or place undue stress on the band closure.

*DO NOT remove the band closure, clasp, or RFID tag. All bands will be inspected at the gates.
Altered bands will be confiscated and not subject to refund.

WRISTBAND

Do not subject your wristband to the following: fire, cutting, excessive twisting, pulling, stretching, or customization.

Once the festival starts, put your wristband on and head down to Lebreton Flats! We will check your band at the gates as we welcome you to the festival.

What if I lose my wristband? Or if it breaks?

Our wristband material is guaranteed weatherproof. That said, if you’ve registered your wristband online, we can deactivate and replace it, no questions asked. Registered wristbands can be replaced in-person at the box office (during festival hours). Please bring your receipt and packaging, along with ID, to complete the replacement.

A fee of $10.00 will be charged for replacement wristbands, so we recommend keeping them in a safe place until the festival.

What information is stored on my wristband? Who has access to this information?

We’re glad you asked, because privacy is very important to us all. Similar to a barcode, each RFID tag is programmed with a serial key that links to account information in various systems, then encrypted (256-bit standard) to prevent unauthorized access. Your admission level (e.g., GA, Volunteer, etc.) timeframe (day pass, full festival), and/or social media information is stored securely in your online account.

The wristbands themselves do not hold any personal information, but are rather a ‘key’ to unlock that specific profile on the system when accessed by our scanners. The tags are passive and do not broadcast unless they are within near proximity of the readers onsite. Similarly, social media integration is encrypted and transmitted over a secure connection. RBC Bluesfest and its agents do not have access to this information as it is for patrons’ benefit only.

As always, Capital Tickets can look up your purchase by reference number, name, etc. to answer various questions. This information is stored securely and never shared without your permission.

I’m not a social media person and I don’t want to enter any contests/promotions, etc.

That’s ok. This benefit is opt-in only.

I want to learn all about RFID. Can you point me to some resources?

Definitely! Intellitix are the event solutions pros and they’ve got a terrific FAQ here: http://www.intellitix.com/resources/faq/#q3.
