Registration Guidelines 2012

Interview Processes: Volunteer Services has already conducted an early recruitment and interview campaign for volunteer positions with the following activities: A-Team, Backstage Services, Mascot, Photo Team, Stage Crew, and Transportation. These positions are now filled. Early recruitment and interviews are not required for the other activities listed in the job descriptions tab above.  Registration details for all other positions are listed below.

Early Bird Registration: There will be ‘early bird’ registration for last year’s returnees ‘in good standing’ – meaning those who successfully completed their commitment in 2011. A private invite will be sent out by Sunday, May 6, 2012 to those who qualify.

Registration Date: Our registration process is fully web-based and will begin on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 7:00 pm. Go to the ‘Volunteers’ page above and click on the ‘Register Now’ tab, then choose the link associated with the activity you are interested in.

Minimum Age: You must be 15 years of age or older before completing your first volunteer shift. Some activities have an ’18 or older’ age limit. See job descriptions for details. There are no exceptions.

Activity Selection: You can only select one activity. All shifts must be in that one activity – for example you cannot be in the Info Booth for some shifts, and in Silent Auction for others even if the shift times do not conflict. Being in various beer tent locations is acceptable though as they are all the same activity.

Shift Selection: Within the activity you select, you can choose pre-set shifts that best match your personal schedule.

Shift Minimum: All activities require a minimum of six shifts.

Shift Length: Shifts are approximately four hours each but vary depending on activity requirements.

Activity Acceptance: Although most of you will be accepted to the activity selected, selecting something does not automatically accept you to that activity. An area leader will assess suitability and contact you within two weeks after registration has been received.

Free Concert Perk: Volunteers are able to see concerts free of charge as long as they are fulfilling their current commitment as planned and maintain at least 6 shifts on their schedule. Special Requirements: First time volunteers must complete their first shift before being granted ‘free access’ to concerts. Volunteers in good standing from 2011 can see shows for free before the completion of a shift. Volunteers who do not show up for their scheduled shifts, do not notify the area leader, and do not reschedule their missed shift will lose the ‘free concert’ perk.

Accessibility Training: the Accessibility Standard for Customer Service is a provincially driven guideline that states that all volunteers must complete accessibility/customer service training before volunteering with our organization. A link to training is available anytime on-line at http://www.mcss.gov.on.ca/mcss/serve-ability/splash.html. Please ensure you have completed this training before you begin your first shift.
